ASCHT was first organized, by a number of leading scientists in Asia, in Xi'an, China, in 2007 with the intention of encouraging scientific and technical cooperation and exchange among Asian countries. The forum is held every two years to activate not only scientific and technical communication but also to promote friendship and collaboration among members.  The 2023 conference will be the 9th in the series of biennial symposia that started in Xi'an, China (2007), and were subsequently held in Jeju, Korea (2009), Kyoto, Japan (2011), Hong Kong, China (2013) , Busan, Korea (2015), Madras, India (2017), Osaka, Japan (2019), Qingdao, China (2021).

This conference aims to provide an international forum for presentation, and exchange of ideas and creation of knowledge in recent advances on various aspects of theories, analyses, and applications of computational methods in theoretical and engineering aspects of fluid and thermal sciences. The symposium includes invited keynote lectures by distinguished experts from across the globe. There will be plenary sessions and a large number of parallel technical sessions spread over the conference period. It will bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, research institutions and industry to exchange experiences, disseminate up-to-date information, and explore new opportunities in the field; in particular, it will expose young and new researchers to the state of the art in the field. The organizers sincerely believe that the 9th Asian Symposium on Computational Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow-2023 (ASCHT'2023) will serve to stimulate researchers while also furthering cooperation among investigators in the field of thermo-fluid science and engineering.
